Loving you in spite of yourself.

This week was hard for me and I spent all week in the hospital with a terrible side-effect from my chemo. I got home this morning and started working on my homework in hopes to keep up. I tried to do this exercise and all I could do is think about the dirty house, the bills that needed paying, and how could I possibly get sick at a time like this. I was hearing the words but it was really not sinking in...I stopped myself and realized for me to relax I needed to remove myself from the home environment. I got my husband to help me get out to my "resting place" in the woods where I like to mediate and than started listening to the mp3 again. As the exercise played I heard Love yourself ...love the good in you... love the bad in you...love the sick you..my words of course but you get the drift. I thought I cam accept me than I can accept anything.. I re-read the book and restarted the exercise again. I loved it this time to breathe in the pain and suffering of me, others, to find the peace within myself to accept me..to love myself no only because I am me but because I need it too. I could feel my heart beating, the aches in my body slowly going to ground. I found my center; I need this class right now as we all do but I am finding my struggles with my beliefs in the western medicine world hard and this class is helping me find acceptance in me.  The mental work out is differently a struggle for I am sure everyone but as I keep working on this exercise I am sure that I will feel more enlightened, and how to deal with my body without treating it like a machine.

Knowing who I am and week three of finding integral health

Looking into my current life situations I would rate my physical well-being on a scale from one to ten a four currently due to my health issues at the moment. It is kind of hard to see it any other way when you are fighting the battle of your life. On the same scale I would rate my spiritual well-being as a seven at the moment but working on that every day by giving myself permission to not be the person who puts everyone first and not allow myself anytime on my own. This also plays into my psychological well-being and who I see myself as and who I can live with me being so this would be a six on that scale. Again I have been working very hard on changing these for myself and those around me.  For the physical well-being I started a few weeks ago but I have changed how I eat, when I eat, how much I eat as well as becoming more physically active in my day to day activities. I have set the goal of reducing my blood pressure and becoming free of diabetes by proper control of my life and diet. For spiritual and psychological they to me work together so I will establish these together. In this task I am allowing myself me time which I have set aside each day, I am also riding with my husband (truck driver) while not needing to be in treatments or have appointments. Let me tell you this is working wonders for me to be able to spend time like this with the love of your life has no explanation but I can tell you this I feel young again. We can be riding down the road and I look at him and the peace runs over me like a river over a creek bed.

On the relaxation exercise I actually want to share something about this. I went to my bedroom and cleared a area on the floor; turning on the exercise I started to relax… Next thing I knew my grandsons and granddaughter come bursting in the room quickly ending the exercise. So I decided to take a walk and go outside and try it…not to much into the exercise my middle and youngest son come out to “see what mom was doing”. I actually decided to give up on the exercise. After deciding to ride on the road with my wonderful husband I was telling him the story and he suggested that he would not interrupt me; just go in the back to the sleeper cab and do the exercise…I felt reguvenated and yes I can honestly say that this exercise has challenged me.

Hello and welcome!

Hello my name is Jean/Biwapco and I would like to take the time to welcome you to my blog. I am a mother of three handsome young men, mother of two daughter-in-laws; and a proud grandmother of five grandchildren. I was raised in the belief that all mankind is good if given the chance. I love nature and everything in it that is good and pure that mother earth and father sky put in-front of us. I was raised to work with natural remedies and that we need to cook from things in their purist form. My blogs will be about what I am learning at Kaplan about Natural healing and the things I have learned over the years that help. I strive to become a Naturopathic practitioner so that I may help others heal their mind, body, and spirit.

Relaxation and meditation one in the same.

I really enjoyed this exercise and that it brings me back to what I do everyday. I was taught as a young women to go into the woods sit on my blanket and just relax letting the sounds of mother earth and father sky take me to a place of peace. I love going into the woods and just letting the modern world go and listen to what the creator has put before us to enjoy. This exercise was a little different in the aspect I had to remain in the house to hear but it took me to a different place of relaxation. I found myself feeling my arms settle to my side, feeling my muscles settle while sitting to the floor, and my pulse...I could feel my pulse on my leg from my arm. Than my mind started drifting as though I was laying on a bed of clouds floating within the grace of father sky's embrace. It was a wonderful experience that I truly enjoyed. I look forward to learning more in this class to help promote the working facets of Integral health.

Strand of life

"All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth. Man did not weave the web of life. He is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself."
